The athletic program at St. Mary’s Academy is designed to afford each student the opportunity to achieve his or her potential while building confidence, intellect and sportsmanship. Planned and carried out by an outstanding faculty and reinforced by a supportive community of parents, friends and alumnae, these programs foster healthy lifestyles while developing leadership skills and teamwork. Administered by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, the sports line-up includes volleyball, basketball, softball and track.
THE TEAM HAS PRODUCED SEVERAL STUDENTS WHO HAVE GARNERED COLLEGE ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS, AS WELL AS ONE WNBA STAR.
One triumph that the entire St. Mary’s family takes pride in is the 1998 Class 4A-state basketball championship. St. Mary’s is the first all girls school in Orleans Parish to win this honor. Additionally, the team has produced several students who have garnered college athletic scholarships, as well as one WNBA star.
